I hate when magazines/fashion authorities advise curvy women to wear bodycon items (only with Spanx of course!) to “show off that hourglass figure.” The idea that we constantly have to adhere to some old school idea about appearing to be ~attractive and desirable~ at all times is dumb. I love wearing shift dresses, oversize tees, boyfriend jeans etc because I know that style isn’t about constantly creating a certain silhouette.
That said, I’ve clearly been having a moment with body con–the last two outfit posts in addition to this one make that pretty clear. Below I have on this rust colored ruched dress from ASOS, and I really love the fit. Which is totally fine to admit–I just like to know that when I’m wearing a tight outfit, it’s because I want to, not because I “should.”
