I’m super excited to announce that I’m now an ambassador for Herbal Essences and part of their new Hair Squad! Herbal Essences is a brand I’ve used my entire life and have praised around the internet before. I grew up using their classic Smooth Collection Conditioner (the iconic one in the light pink bottle), and eventually switched to their Color Me Happy set paired with their Totally Twisted mousse. That combo was genuinely what I was using each morning right up until the brand contacted me about their new line of products!
Some of you know I’ve been trying to slowly transition my lifestyle by making healthier choices both with food and beauty products. I cut most gluten and dairy out of my diet last July and I’m trying to strongly limit parabens and other toxic chemicals, so I was pumped to hear the brand I was already using on my hair was launching a new line free of parabens and dyes. Total win/win.
The line is called bio:renew, which is a blend of signature, natural ingredients that help revive dull hair. Inspired by a natural antioxidant (histidine), it removes harmful free radicals from the sun/pollution/tap water etc. and includes some amazing ingredients like sea kelp and aloe.
They sent me a ton of the different shampoos, conditioners and styling products, and of course my first instinct was to open them up and smell each one. Herbal Essences has always been known for their amazing scents, and this collection didn’t let me down. I wish I could tell you guys my smell-test favorite but there literally was no stand out because they all smelled so good. I’ve tried a few of the shampoo/conditioners so far, and for my hair I’m most loving the deeply hydrating Coconut Milk Collection. For styling I’ve been using the Soft Control Creme Gel and the Curl Defining Mousse. With this combo of products, my curls are soft, bouncy, and smell deliciously tropical. I scrunch my hair and shake it around a lot during the air-drying process to avoid the overly-defined look. I like my curls to look a bit lived in, but still full of life (no crunchy curls for me, please).
Since my job is a little unique, there is no typical day for me. I often start at the gym, take a shower and head to a local coffee shop for work or meetings before scheduling some social time with friends at a restaurant (or in today’s case, my hot tub)! My hair is a huge part of my identity and I love that using the bio:renew collection helps me face my day with confidence that my curls will look great, regardless of what’s on my calendar.
