I am ecstatic that this October’s issue of Europe’s #1 Lesbian Magazine, DIVA, is deemed “The Fat Issue”. Unlike Glamour, DIVA features actual fat (size 28) models and discusses fat positive topics like Health At Every Size. From fashion to fatphobia, this issue seemingly covers it all. I read the first few pages online (that’s all I could view without paying) and I gotta admit, I’m impressed so far. With enticing titles like the ones pictured below, I am seriously considering shelling out the cash to read these articles!
I am SO looking forward to this issue and am gonna be ALL over it. I think it will be well worth digging into your pockets for!
I’m not familiar with Diva, but the presence of “the Fat issue” makes me wonder if every other issue is, like most women’s magazines, the “why you suck if you’re not thin” issue.
As a proud lez and avid reader of Diva, when I saw the cover posted on their website yesterday, my brain exploded with joy and happiness! Im so PROUD of these girls for publishing this wonderful magazine, and putting fat models on the cover, I can’t wait to get the issue and read the articles, Im pretty sure it will make me feel super happy! And it’s not the first time they talk about fat acceptance in the magazine, so bravo to them!!
As another lesbian lover of Diva, I’m ecstatic this came out. They’ve always had the odd fat model put in the magazine, and varieties of different looking women, including their anniversary issue which had women of all sizes posing naked on their front cover and a plus size lady in the last issue’s fashion pages. My straight friends read it whenever they come over and they get so jealous that other straight magazines don’t celebrate women as they do.
I just discovered your blog and therefore just read this entry, and I’m now counting down the hours to when I can get to my local DIVA-carrying bookstore to pick this up. Especially if it contains pictures of fat butches. Hello, eye candy.
